Case 42??

According to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, researchers from a pan-dimensional, hyper-intelligent race of beings constructed the second greatest computer in all of time and space, Deep Thought, to calculate the Ultimate Answer to the Great Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. After seven and a half million years of pondering the question, Deep Thought provides the answer: “forty-two.” The reaction:

“Forty-two!?!” yelled Loonquawl. “Is that all you’ve got to show for seven and a half million years’ work?”

“I checked it very thoroughly,” said the computer, “and that quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you’ve never actually known what the question is.”

THE REAL ANSWER TO THE QUESTION…

I have a hunger to know other people with other beliefs than mine, and I will never force my own beliefs on anyone else. I will, however, happily tell everyone I can about the good things that have happened to me. This age-old question of “Life, The Universe, and Everything” has a simple answer. It’s not complex, doesn’t require deep thought or exhaustive analysis.

For thousands of years, Mankind required sacrifice in order to atone for sin. When, as the Bible says, Jesus died, His Work was complete. God had ultimately paid the final sacrifice for us, eliminating the need for that continued practice. The only thing left to do, then, is to know it is true, and accept the sacrifice that was paid for us.

I have been through many things. I have experienced just about all the world has to offer. In 1997, after a series of fortunate events, I went from hard-core atheist to “born again,” nearly over night. Much was changed in my life instantly. I had accepted Jesus the Christ as my savior.

Jesus taught many things in his day, but perhaps the simplest, but most profound was basically this: “Your faith has saved you. You are forgiven. Now, get up, walk, and don’t do it again!” He didn’t want us wallowing around in self-pity, condemnation and filth. He said over and over again, “get up and walk,” in so many words.  His goal, I think, was to get us closer to him by getting us to get past our past.

It’s simple…

• Hear the Good News (The Gospel), that Jesus is the Messiah (The Savior)
• Believe that He has paid the price for your sin
• Repent and ask for forgiveness for your sins
• Confess your Faith in Jesus Christ
• Be baptized in water
• Remain faithful
